The Grimsby Institute of Further & Higher Education is the largest provider of vocational qualifications in North East Lincolnshire and has seen a significant growth in recent years in the number of students choosing to continue on to Further and Higher Education.
With an excellent Ofsted report, five Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs), Sporting Academies in athletics, cricket, football, golf and tennis, a Media Academy, two TV Channels (Propeller and Channel 7) and golf club, as well as a National Skills Academy for Food and Drink Manufacturing specialising in fish processing skills, we cater for a diverse range of interests.
Providing world-class education and skills training to around 22,500 students we offer a host of GCSE, A and AS levels, alongside vocational programmes, Apprenticeships and Work Based Learning. In addition, we have a rapidly expanding portfolio of Higher Education courses including Foundation Degrees, full honours degrees and masters programmes, al of which are accredited through our partnerships with Hull, York St. John, Huddersfield and Leeds Metropolitan universities.
With approximately 1,300 staff the Institute is also the third largest employer in the area and prides itself on its commitment to ensuring all its staff are able to operate in a happy, healthy working environment. We were recently awarded a coveted Big Tick in recognition of our efforts to promote health and wellbeing in the workplace.
We also look for excellence in all our staff to ensure that our customers receive first-class service every day. We have built a culture in which our individuals and teams are encouraged to develop services and products that will please their customers and extend the range of our work.
We have high expectations of all our staff, but offer extensive training which starts when you start; rewards for excellence are publicly presented, teams celebrate success together and the whole organisation comes together twice a year for the Christmas and summer parties.
And with demand for Further and Higher Education increasing all the time the Institute is looking to the future with its state-of-the-art new building, which will provide the town with world-class educational facilities that will ensure it is able to meet the demands of the 21st century.
